David A. Winkler
Administrative Director for Student Life
David A. Winkler is the Administrative Director for the Division of Student Life. In this role, he provides executive and strategic support to the Vice President for Student Life, the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students, and the Division more broadly. He regularly coordinates divisional initiatives with partners across Baylor University.
Above all, David seeks to engage, equip, and elevate others in their shared work to enhance the Baylor student experience. He has been at Baylor since 2019 and served previously in the Graduate School in multiple areas: enrollment management, marketing and communications, and personal and professional development.
David is currently a dissertating PhD Candidate in Baylor’s Higher Education Leadership program. He holds a master’s degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s degree from Ouachita Baptist University. David is married to Caroline, and they have two sons.
David’s research interests focus broadly on student faith and character development, ungrading, and Christian higher education. His dissertation centers upon the interplay of doctoral students’ academic identity formation and contingent self-worth.
