New Staff Orientation at Baylor is grounded in the belief that how you begin shapes how you lead. The experience is designed to connect new staff with senior leaders, introduce the full scope of the Division’s work, and provide clarity about how systems, processes, and culture function at Baylor. It creates space to learn about available resources, professional development pathways, and cross-campus collaboration while also fostering meaningful relationships within the Division.
The goal is simple: to ensure every new team member begins well—equipped, connected, and confident in their role and contribution to our shared purpose:
...to enrich the Baylor experience through life-changing programs and services resulting in an integrated education known for virtuous leadership and service, Christian faith and community, and the holistic development of students.
Learning Outcomes
Staff will be able to identify each Senior Leader Team (SLT) member and articulate the core responsibilities of their respective divisions.
Staff will be able to describe how different SLT areas directly or indirectly impact the student experience.
Staff will recognize key institutional resources, policies, and benefits that support staff flourishing, and know which SLT offices oversee them.
Staff will reflect on career and vocational advice shared by SLT members and identify at least one personal takeaway for their own professional growth.
Staff will articulate how the mission and Christian identity of the institution shape leadership practices and influence institutional culture.
Staff will begin building relationships with fellow orientation participants through intentional group activities and shared reflection, fostering a sense of belonging and community from the outset of their Baylor experience.
