Ode to Joy
Beethoven's Symphony No. 9

The Waco Symphony closes the 2026-27 season with one of the most celebrated and inspiring works ever written - Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. In honor of the 200th anniversary of Beethoven's death in 2027, Maestro Lawrence Loh, the Waco Symphony Orchestra, four acclaimed soloists, and the Central Texas Choral Society unite for this monumental musical experience featuring the iconic "Ode to Joy."

The evening opens with Dallas composer Jon Cziner's Rear-View, a work inspired by road trips and the nostalgic memories they evoke, followed by Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915 featuring soprano Katherine Whyte. Filled with reflection, beauty, humanity, and triumph, Beethoven's Ninth brings the season to a breathtaking conclusion, celebrating the joy, hope, and connection that music can create.
