Celebrating the Health Center's Dr. Sharon Stern
Dear Student Life Colleagues and Friends,
It is with deep appreciation that I announce the retirement of Dr. Sharon Stern, our Medical Director of Health Services, at the end of May 2025. Dr. Stern has dedicated 29 years of exceptional service to Baylor University, including 17 years as Medical Director.
Dr. Stern has been a cornerstone of our student health and well-being commitment, overseeing services for students including primary care, psychiatry, physical therapy, pharmacy, and the student health insurance plan. Her leadership has been crucial in achieving AAAHC accreditation, implementing telehealth services, supporting our growing graduate and international student populations, advising on student health-related matters, and navigating public health crises like COVID-19.
Her dedication to excellent medical care has left a lasting impression on students and colleagues, embodying Baylor’s mission to care for the whole person—heart, mind, body, and soul.
While we will miss Sharon’s wisdom, humor, and expertise, we are excited for her as she transitions to this next chapter of life, looking forward to spending more time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
As we celebrate her legacy, we are also looking ahead. A search for our next Medical Director is underway, and we are committed to finding a top-tier physician to continue Dr. Stern’s outstanding work.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Sharon Stern on a remarkable career and wishing her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.
With deep gratitude,
Kevin P. Jackson, Ph.D.
